Behind the Build: DENALI D7 Pro, CANsmart and weiserCAN on a BMW R 1250 GS Trophy
We recently completed a lighting installation on a 2025 BMW R 1250 GS Trophy using two separate CANbus controllers. A pair of DENALI D7 Pro lights sit at the front, powered and controlled by a DENALI CANsmart. At the rear, a weiserCAN controller handles the indicators and a DENALI B6 brake light. CANsmart and weiserCAN are different manufacturers' products, not a combined system, but both can be fitted side by side, each handling the end of the bike it suits best.

Front: CANsmart and the D7 Pros
Two DENALI D7 Pro pods were mounted to the front, clamped to the crash bar tubing, each fitted with DENALI's amber X-Lens. All four CANsmart channels are in use across the pair, running the pods as DRLs and indicators through the amber lens alongside their main driving light output. The D7 Pro's split, dual-circuit design, two circuits per pod, is why all four channels are needed.
Rear: weiserCAN, Indicators and the B6
At the rear, the indicators and the DENALI B6 run through weiserCAN instead of CANsmart. The B6 is a multi-functional running and brake light; with weiserCAN it can hyperflash under hard braking and under engine braking. The indicators use one of weiserCAN's re-sequencing modules for the R 1250 GS/GSA's factory indicators from 2021 onward, which also restores the full-time rear running light this generation lacks as standard.
Both controllers sit inside the bodywork, wired into the factory loom with the bike's own connectors.
